On It Calls is run by Ed Kunitz, based in Atco, New Jersey. It answers the phone for small businesses when the owner can't pick up, and puts what the caller said in front of the owner. This page explains what information passes through the service and what happens to it.
When someone calls a business using On It Calls and the owner doesn't pick up, an automated receptionist answers instead. During that call it may collect:
The call itself is also recorded and transcribed by our voice provider so the receptionist can understand what's being said. The phone number the call actually came from is captured automatically by the phone network, regardless of what the caller says out loud.
This information is stored and shown to the business owner on their phone, so they can call the customer back. It is not shown to anyone else, and it is not sold.
If a business has text messaging turned on, On It Calls may send the caller a text message related to the call they just made or the message they left -- for example, confirming a callback, or sending a menu link a caller asked for on the phone.
Message frequency varies depending on your interaction with the business. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to a text at any time to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help. Your phone number is used only to send you information related to the call or message you left, never for marketing, and is never sold or shared for marketing purposes.
A business that signs up for On It Calls gives us its name, an owner's first name, a phone number to alert, and payment details for billing. That information is used to run the service for that business and is not shared with other businesses on the system.
On It Calls uses a small number of outside services to work at all. Each one only sees the piece of information it needs to do its job:
None of these companies are permitted to use this information for their own purposes. It is passed to them only to deliver the call, the alert, or the text.
A request stays in a business's own inbox until the owner marks it done, and stays in their history after that so a repeat caller can be recognized. A business only ever sees its own callers, never another business's.
On It Calls is a business tool. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
